Breaking News Tower Bridge shut after 'unexploded bomb' found on building site

Tower Bridge was shut earlier and 1,200 homes were evacuated after an unexploded Second World War bomb was found on a building site in south London.
London Fire Brigade and Met officers were still at the scene on The Grange, of Grange Road, Bermondsey, six hours after being called shortly before 10am.
Tower Bridge was closed between the A1203 and A200 - either side of the Thames - while bus routes 1, 42, 78, 188, C10 and RV1 were put on diversion.
Earlier it was not known how much longer the operation would take, and Southwark Council advised people to avoid the area when travelling home. Police did not expect roads to reopen before rush hour.
Grange Road shut at its junction with Tower Bridge Road following the discovery of the bomb at about 9.40am, while bus routes 1, 42, 78, 188, C10 and RV1 were also diverted.
An officer at the scene is reported to have said the situation is unlikely to be resolved today.
People who live within 200m of the site - about 1,200 households according to Southwark Council - are being directed to "rest centres" in Canada Water Library and Seven Islands leisure centre.

The bomb is about 1,000lb and 5ft long, according to police.
Two schools - Kintore Way and Harris Academy Bermondsey - have also been evacuated.

And @jazzminella added: "Not going home anytime soon!"
Southwark council leader Peter John said: “I can understand how worrying this is for local people, and the council is doing all we can to support them while the emergency services make the area safe.
"We have well-rehearsed emergency plans in place and our first priority is to make sure residents are safe and cared for. We would urge all evacuated residents to go along to one of our rest centres in Canada Water where we will be providing hot meals and tea and coffee to all affected.”

8 Celebrities You Had No Idea Were Gay Or Bisexual!

Once, it was considered very dangerous to be out in Hollywood. Theater and show business has been a haven for LGBT folks dating back to the Renaissance, when the highly-trained male actors who played women onstage were often subject to suspicion about their sexuality. Many jokes have been made about straight men being a rarity in the business, especially on the stage. But for many years, an actor’s sexuality was kept secret if he wasn’t straight – such legends as Rock Hudson and James Dean are confirmed to have had relationships with men, and the landscape was never much better for women. Being out is more acceptable today, but many actors still have their sexualities kept secret or swept under the rug. Here are some queer stars you probably assumed were straight.

1. Angelina Jolie

A household name and member of the A-list since the mid-90s for Hackers, Angelina Jolie has also dabbled in directing with 2011’s The Land of Milk and Honey and is famed for her philanthropic work. She’s also the daughter of Jon Voight and was named the highest paid actress in Hollywood by Forbes in 2009, 2011, and 2013. Much has been made of some of Jolie’s past relationships including her divorces from Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton, and of course, she made headlines with her marriage to Brad Pitt this summer after a relationship that started in 2005. But in 1996, on the set of Foxfire, Jolie met model-actress Jenny Shimizu, who is an out lesbian. Jolie has confirmed their relationship many times, saying “I fell in love with her the second I saw her.

I probably would have married Jenny if I hadn’t married [first husband Jonny Lee Miller].” Shimizu has also commented on their relationship, claiming it went on for many years. In 2003, when asked if she was bisexual, Jolie answered “Of course. If I fell in love with a woman tomorrow, would I feel that it’s okay to want to kiss and touch her? If I fell in love with her? Absolutely! Yes!”

2. Drew Barrymore

First coming on the scene at the age of three, Drew Barrymore was born Hollywood royalty and had her big break at the tender age of 7 as the cutie with the scream in 1982’s E.T. After a turbulent childhood marked by drugs, alcohol, and stints in rehab, Barrymore successfully made the transition from childhood star to serious adult actress, returning to prominence in 1995 with Boys on the Side. She’s had a series of relationships with men, including two failed engagements and a marriage that lasted less than three months, all before her twentieth birthday. She was briefly married to Tom Green in 2001, and had relationships with Fabrizio Moretti, drummer of The Strokes, and actor Justin Long in the 2000s, before marrying her current husband in 2011 and having two children with him. Less publicized, however, was a relationship with former magazine editor Jane Pratt in the mid-1990s, confirmed publicly by Pratt in 2007. That hasn’t been confirmed by Barrymore, but in 2003, she said “Do I like women sexually? Yeah, I do. Totally. I have always considered myself bisexual.”

Being with a woman is like exploring your own body, but through someone else. When I was younger I used to go with lots of women. Totally. I love it.” In 2004, she went on to say “A woman and a woman together are beautiful, just as a man and a woman together are beautiful.

3. Cynthia Nixon

Best known for her role as Miranda Hobbes in Sex and the City, the TV series credited with changing the landscape of American sexuality, and its two films, Cynthia Nixon has won two Emmys, a Grammy, and a Tony. She made her debut in 1979 at the age of twelve in an after-school special, and most recently appeared on screen in TV’s Hannibal as FBI investigator Kade Prurnell. From 1988 to 2003, Nixon was in a relationship with a schoolteacher named Danny Mozes, with whom she has two children. In 2004, however, Nixon began dating activist Christine Marinoni. They married in New York in 2012 after becoming engaged in 2009, and have a son together. In 2007, Nixon commented on her sexual orientation: “I don’t really feel I’ve changed. I’d been with men all my life, and I’d never fallen in love with a woman. But when I did, it didn’t seem so strange. I’m just a woman in love with another woman.”

She took a lot of heat for saying homosexuality is a choice, but later claimed she’d been quoted out of context and clarified: “While I don’t often use the word, the technically precise term for my orientation is bisexual. I believe bisexuality is not a choice, it is a fact. What I have ‘chosen’ is to be in a gay relationship.”

4. Sarah Paulson

Sarah Paulson began working as an actress at the age of nineteen, making her debut on Law and Order in 1994. She didn’t hit the big time until 2006, however, playing Harriet Hayes in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, the short-lived Aaron Sorkin drama about the inner workings of a late night comedy show. She earned a Golden Globe nomination for that role as one of the stars of the titular show, a devout Christian in a long-term relationship with one of the show-within-a-show’s executive producers. Most recently, she’s appeared in every season to date of American Horror Story, a show that began in 2011 and tells a different story in a different subgenre of horror in every season. However, her most notable role remains that of the homophobic comedienne in Studio 60, which is ironic, because she’s been out as bisexual since 2007.

She began dating actress Cherry Jones in 2004, publicly confirming their relationship in ’07 before their breakup in 2009. In 2013, she said she’d only dated men before that relationship, and that she was open to relationships with both men and women going forward.

5. Amber Heard

Born in Texas, Amber Heard dropped out of high school at the age of sixteen to move to New York and pursue a modeling career, moving to Los Angeles a year later for a switch to acting. She started acting in 2004, making her big break in 2008 with roles in Never Back Down and Pineapple Express. With several TV roles also under her belt, Heard is a sex symbol who often makes “sexiest” and “most beautiful” lists in magazines, most recently being ranked #53 in Maxim’s Hot 100 in 2012. Heard met actor Johnny Depp in 2010 while filming The Rum Diary and the pair have been dating since 2012, becoming engaged on Christmas Eve 2013.

However, she had a relationship with photographer Tasya van Ree and came out as having had relationships with women in 2010 at GLAAD’s 25th anniversary event. Heard rejects labels, though, quoted as saying “I don’t label myself one way or another—I have had successful relationships with men and now a woman. I love who I love; it’s the person that matters.”

6. Ellen Page

Ellen Page started getting attention for her cute, boyish looks and acting chops after starring in Hard Candy in 2005, but made her big break in 2007 as the titular character in Juno, for which she was nominated for many awards. She’s also known for her roles as Kitty Pryde in the X-Men films, Ariadne in Inception, and Bliss Cavendar in Whip It. For many years, the Canadian actress kept mum about her personal life for the most part but spoke openly about being a pro-choice feminist and living a vegan lifestyle, leading to speculation from the media, but especially from the queer community. She confirmed the rumors on Valentine’s Day 2014 at the Human Rights Campaign’s Time to Thrive conference, visibly nervous as she said “I’m here today because I am gay. And because maybe I can make a difference. To help others have an easier and more hopeful time. Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility.”

She also said in this beautiful speech, “I am tired of hiding and I am tired of lying by omission. I suffered for years because I was scared to be out. My spirit suffered, my mental health suffered and my relationships suffered. And I’m standing here today, with all of you, on the other side of that pain.”

7. Guillermo Diaz

Currently seen as Huck on the television show Scandal, Guillermo Diaz was born to Cuban parents in New Jersey and made his Hollywood debut in 1994. He made waves as Guillermo Garcia Gomez, a Mexican drug dealer and trafficker in season two through six of the critically acclaimed TV show Weeds, then went on to portray gay nurse Angel Garcia in the TV show Mercy, which ran for one season in 2009. Despite his on-screen image as various Latino gangsters, cholos (Mexican thugs), and other tough men, Diaz is openly gay. Coming from a rough neighborhood in New York City and the hypermasculine, very religious Latino culture, Diaz has said it was necessary to hide his sexual orientation as a teen. He told Out magazine in 2009, “That facade of being somebody I’m really not just to protect myself definitely helped with acting.” He’s been openly gay for his entire career, although early on, his managers tried to push back.

“I just don’t have the patience for that shit. It seems like so much fuckin’ work to keep lying. I remember them saying, ‘We need to build up your body count.’ They wanted me to kill more people on film. I was like, ‘You guys would rather I kill more people on film than tell people I’m gay?’ Needless to say, I’m not with them anymore.” The decision was easy for him, he says, and worked out fine, proving that even with such a tough-guy image as his, being openly gay is far from the career suicide it may have once been. “I never even thought about it. I was like, I’m just going to act. And it’s never been an issue. I’ve worked constantly.”

8. Michelle Rodriguez

Michelle Rodriguez got everyone’s attention in 2000 with the indie movie Girlfight, playing a tough, troubled boxer. Her films have grossed over five billion dollars, and she’s considered one of the most iconic action film actresses in Hollywood, as well as one of the most famous Latina actresses. She’s also made news for her troubles with the law, mostly related to alcohol, DUIs, and speeding (not surprising, given her role as Letty Ortiz in the Fast and the Furious movies). She’s dated co-stars Vin Diesel and Olivier Martinez, but in 2006, she told Cosmopolitan that she had experimented with both sexes. Later that year, openly bisexual co-star Kristanna Loken seemed to say that she and Rodriguez were in a relationship, but neither actress ever confirmed it officially. She criticized a magazine in 2007 for putting words in her mouth when it called her bisexual, but in 2013 she opened up about her sexuality. “I’ve gone both ways. I do as I please. I am too curious to sit here and not try when I can. Men are intriguing. So are chicks.” In May 2014, she said “Maybe by me opening my big fat mouth like I usually do and stepping up and owning who I am, maybe it might inspire somebody else to do the same.” Later that month, she put the word to it, saying “Bi, yeah. I fall under the B category of LGBT.”

India's Daughter: How India tried to suppress the Delhi gang-rape documentary

It told of the gang rape – on a bus by five men and one juvenile in December 2012 – of Jyoti Singh, a Delhi medical student who died in hospital of her wounds.
The unspeakable details of her ritual humiliation belong in another century, and yet they tell of a deeply ingrained culture of female repression in India.

One Indian woman is raped every 20 minutes.
For its eye-watering brutality, and also for its resonant symbolism, this was the case to ignite furious demonstrations, which in turn were violently suppressed by riot police.
Peering behind the headlines and the hysteria, Leslee Udwin’s overpowering documentary featured interviews with a wide range of people connected to the case: not only Singh’s dignified parents, but also one of the rapists, another rapist’s young wife and the parents of two more of the culprits.
All of them were living with the gruelling consequences of poverty, lack of education and a culture which privileges boys and turns a blind eye to the abortion of female foetuses.
Asha Singh, the rape victim's mother, with Savitri Devi, the victim's sister-in law
Singh’s life was an attempt to break this cycle. Memories of those close to her suggested a shining embodiment of new aspirational India.
But female lawyers, politicians and academics queued up in the film to explain that India doesn’t know how to cope with a young generation of emancipated women, a position hideously corroborated by the defendants’ lawyers.
“In our society,” said one, “we never allow a girl to come out of the house after 6.30 with any unknown person.”
This was much the mildest of his endorsements on the male-oriented status quo.
Delhi Rapist Mukesh Singh

The interview with Mukesh Singh, who drove the bus and joined in the rape, was the most marrow-chilling of all.
He explained that any woman who resists rape, as his victim did, is begging to be murdered, and even argued that the death penalty for rape could only be bad news for victims.
“Now when they rape they won’t leave the girl like we did. They will kill her. Especially the criminal types.”
He had just enough humanity to flinch as the list of Jyoti Singh’s injuries – from bite marks to the removal of her intestines – was read out to him.
While the UK broadcast was brought forward from International Woman’s Day on March 8 to last night, earlier this week the Indian government secured an injunction banning the broadcast of the documentary.
Make of that what you will.

OMG What These Men Are Doing For Fun Would Shock Or Scare Most Of The Population

There are lots of hobbies in the world that many people might consider to be a bit "out there." One of those hobbies is being a so-called "masker." Maskers are men who, with the help of specialized, anatomically correct silicone rubber body suits, dress up as doll-like women.
Their reasons for doing so are as diverse as the different styles of clothing and accessories their female alter egos wear. It's a trend that until very recently has mostly been underground and out of the mainstream.

Most of the men who dress up as maskers are as normal as you or me. Many of them are straight men with regular lives, families, and careers. Some are even married with children.

A custom-made silicone body suit, the kind preferred by the maskers, typically costs about $850 and is manufactured by just one company, Femskin.

The Femskin suits are also anatomically correct, meaning that they come with realistic silicone breasts and a vagina. Of course, the transformation is not complete without a realistic-looking mask. Those can cost up to $500.

An important distinction to make with maskers is the difference between them and the transgender community. Unlike transgender people, maskers don't feel like they've been born into the wrong body.

For them, masking is just a way to have fun.

Last year, the BBC ran a documentary exploring the life of maskers. Check out the trailer for it below.

While it might be easy for some to judge these men harshly for their hobby, it's basically no different than dressing up for any other event. These men want to have fun and enjoy life. Not everyone enjoys life the same way.

Many maskers are actually quite beautiful. Something tells me that if I passed one of them on the street, I wouldn't even notice they were wearing a mask. While it's not everyone's idea of fun, I think the age-old saying, "to each their own," applies very well here.

GUY WWE FINISHES HIS ‘ANNOYING’ GIRLFRIEND AND IT IS F***ING HILARIOUS

First off, shout out to the girl in this video. A for effort.
If you can ever find a woman who’s totally down with you giving her wrestling finishers into a swimming pool, put a ring on it – that’s what all men want…right?

Joe Weller recently created a viral video of himself performing WWE moves on one special girl after she insulted the colour of his t-shirt.
No shorties were harmed in the making of this video.

Well done Joe, cracking effort. You’ve really hit all the key features necessary for a viral video: wrestling moves, swimming pools, humour, girls, sports…and a Superman t-shirt.
You’re gonna go far.

Screen Shot 2015-03-04 at 10.10.54 “MEN LOOK AT PRETTY WOMEN, THAT’S THEIR NATURE”, THE PSYCHOLOGY OF CHECKING OUT GIRLS

Men have been known to have a cheeky gander at women on the beach, or walking down a street, or in a shop…or anywhere. But, from what I can tell, women don’t feel the same urge towards men.
If you frequently catch your man’s eyes wandering when a pretty woman passes by, don’t blame him, apparently it’s all down to evolution.
New research shows that while women are drawn to male faces that look familiar, men are more likely to rate someone they have never seen before as more attractive.

Psychologists came up with the findings after showing men and women pictures of dozens of different faces. The more women in the study saw pictures of the same man’s face, the more attracted they were to him.
But the men who took part rated the women as less attractive when they saw them for a second time.
So can science explain the psychology of why men check out women…? Let’s take a look.

The video is likely to stir up debate, as all good media should, and that’s certainly been the case at Viral Blogger UK.
Some side with the opinion that it’s a harmless trait hardwired into all men. A trait that manifests itself sub-consciously, and is without aim or agenda. Just looking, no touching – if you like.
However, I can also understand a a girlfriend feeling peeved and undervalued if her fella is caught peeking at a bikini-clad girl on the beach.
She may feel that her boyfriend’s eyes should be exclusively aimed at her, and to an extent, I’d agree with that assertion.

At the end of the day, while your man might take a sneak peek, the professor assures insecure girlfriends that if their relationship with their boyfriend is solid, then they have nothing to worry about.
He said: “More than anyone else in the world, he wants you. And if you don’t believe me, ask him.”
We’d love to know your take on the professor’s research and opinion. Who’s in the right in this debate? Let us know with a comment.

MAN TELLS UFC WOMEN CHAMPION SHE CAN’T COMPETE WITH MEN, SO SHE BREAKS HIS RIBS

If there’s one thing you don’t do, it’s talk shit to a professional MMA fighter. If there’s another thing you don’t do, it’s tell UFC champion Ronda Rousey that she can’t compete with a man.
This guy did exactly that. And it’s safe to say he regrets it now. Having received four busted ribs for his trouble.
28-year-old Ronda, the UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion, is currently undefeated with 11 straight wins with only one of them coming outside of the first round. She finished her last opponent, Cat Zingano, in just 14 seconds.
You can watch the demolition job in the video below.

Having seen that video, and all her other fights, you probably wouldn’t antagonise her…right? Not if you had more than two braincells anyway. Apparently, this guy doesn’t, and look where he ended up…

Not only is he lacking braincells, but ribs as well. After he tried to get all macho around Ronda. Needless to say – it didn’t end well for him.

Not that we advocate violence here at Viral Thread, we’d say this guy deserved a little whooping. I’m sure he’s learnt a very painful lesson now, well done Ronda.
