LONDON - While the odds are slim, this is a cautionary tale — a London man rushing to a job interview told a fellow commuter to “go f*** himself,” never imagining how those words might haunt him later.

“I was on my way into work on the Tube on Monday morning during rush hour,” Bucklandtold BBC Trending, “I stood to one side to let a lady get by, and ended up blocking a man momentarily. He shoved past me, almost knocking me over, and shouted.” Just another unfriendly experience on a packed train to stew over for a few minutes and forget forever, right?
Well, later that day a job seeker showed up 15 minutes early to his interview, Buckland said, and to his surprise the same foul-mouthed man he encountered in the Tube walked through the door. The interviewee didn’t appear to remember Buckland at first, he said.
“It was totally awkward,” Buckland told the BBC. “So I approached it by asking him if he’d had a good commute that morning. We laughed it off and in a very British way I somehow ended up apologising.”
Unsurprisingly, the man didn’t get hired — but not because he unknowingly cursed out his own interviewer. Buckland said he just wasn’t right for the role, it turned out.
